Kaohsiung Medical University Classic Reading Reflection Essay Contest Guidelines

 

Article 1 - Purpose: To promote a culture of reading and writing on campus, strengthen students' general education and humanistic literacy, and align with the university's mission to cultivate a spirit of medical humanities, this essay contest is being held.

Article 2 - Supervisory Unit: Ministry of Education.

Article 3 - Organizing Unit: Center for Languages and Culture, Kaohsiung Medical University.

Article 4 - Eligible Participants: Undergraduate students enrolled in the compulsory Chinese literature course for the current semester at the university.

Article 5 - Subject Matter: Books listed in the "Classic Good Books" reading list published by the Center for Languages and Culture for the current academic year.

Article 6 - Format and Content:

1.      Please follow the "Classic Good Books Reading Reflection Format Guidelines" announced by the Center.

2.      Content: The essay must include two parts: a "Summary" (250-350 words) and a "Reflection" (1000-1500 words).

 

Article 7 - Contest Process and Judging:

1.      Choose one book from the "Classic Good Books" reading list for the academic year and write a reflection.

2.      Preliminary Review: Chinese literature teachers from each class will review and recommend outstanding works for the second round.

3.      Second Review: The entries will be anonymized and reviewed by three external experts.

4.      Final Review: A final review meeting will be held to determine the winners.

 

Article 8 - Awards:

1.      Participants who pass the preliminary review and advance to the second review will be awarded a certificate.

2.      The competition awards will be divided into several categories: Excellent, First-Class, Honorable Mention, and Finalist. Certificates will be awarded, and prizes will be determined based on the annual budget.

 

Article 9 - Additional Notes:

1.      Submissions must be original and unpublished (including online articles) and must not have won any previous awards. Entries that do not meet these criteria or involve plagiarism may have their awards revoked, with prizes reclaimed. The author will bear any legal responsibility.

2.      Copyright for the winning works belongs to the author. However, the author must agree to grant the university's General Education Center the right to publish the work on the university website or promote, preserve, and repost it on other public university websites without additional compensation.
